Guidelines for Poster Preparation

Design and layout specifications

  • Poster height and width should not exceed 122 cm (48") or 4' x 4'.
  • Text should be easily readable from a distance of 1-2 m, and headings from a distance of 3-4 m. Therefore, some suggested font sizes:
    • Poster Title: 72 points
    • Titles: 36 points
    • Text: between 16 and 24 points
  • A banner displaying your poster title, name(s), and organization(s) should be positioned at the top-of the poster.
  • Keep the text brief and use graphs, charts and illustrations as much as possible to tell your story. As delegates will represent many different disciplines, try to avoid jargon and make sure to explain all abbreviations and acronyms.
  • The use of color will enhance poster readability and attractiveness.

Assembling and Dismantling

Your poster will be displayed throughout the conference. Specific poster viewing times coincide with networking breaks and receptions, and we ask that you be present at your poster for the duration of these sessions. It is recommended that you bring a concise handout summarizing your work with your contact info. This will facilitate information exchange and allow interested parties to contact you outside the confines of the conference.

Set Up: Set up will take place in Wild Rose foyer on Sunday, September 28 from 1-4:30 or after 7:00 pm or before 7:30am on Monday, September 29, 2008. Please note displays should not be set up during the Sunday reception from 5 - 7 pm. Pushpins will be provided for putting up posters.

Tear Down: Tear down will occur on Tuesday, September 30th between 3:00 - 4:30 pm. Any displays not taken down are left at your own risk.
