1998 - The Third International Board of Review for AHFMR

Every six years, as legislated by its Act, the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research undergoes an intensive review of its operations by a committee of internationally renowned experts in the health and medical fields. The third International Board of Review (IBR) will convene this year from October 4 - 9. The review committee will consist of seven people from England and all over North America who will divide their time between Edmonton and Calgary.

Information about every aspect of the Foundation's operations during the past six years has been sent to IBR committee members to prepare them for the review. IBR members will also meet with representatives from universities, government, and other key areas that intersect with the Foundation's operations, in order to hear first hand accounts of AHFMR operations. At the end of the review week, committee members will give their assessments to the IBR Chair, who will spend several weeks assembling the information into a report for AHFMR's Board of Trustees. AHFMR expects to receive the report at the beginning of 1999 and will release it publicly sometime after that date.
