Heart researchers spend the day educating in Edmonton
(EDMONTON, AB) Wednesday February 23, 2005... In recognition of 25 years of research excellence, the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research (AHMFR) is hosting province wide lectures around the Province for the next year. Leading Heart researchers from the Universities of Alberta and Calgary will spend the day in Edmonton presenting the latest in heart research. AHFMR along with the Heart and Stroke Foundation are bringing the researchers to Edmonton Prairie to promote heart health. Dr. Anne Gillis, an AHFMR Scientist in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary will give a presentation on living better electrically - how to manage heart rhythm disorders. Dr. Richard Schulz, an AHFMR Senior Scholar in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta will give a lecture on radicals, scissors and glue in a diseased heart. The doctors will present to high school students in the afternoon at Corbett Hall at the University of Alberta and again in the evening for the general public.
