Canadian Common CV System Set for Release July 2002
The first release of the Canadian Common CV system is scheduled for July 2002. Developed by Canadian funding research agencies in response to calls from the research community to streamline the funding application process, the Canadian Common CV system offers a single web interface to create a CV that can be submitted to those agencies who are members of the Common CV network.

Extensive consultations and workshops have been held with the research community and participating agencies throughout the project to ensure the system would satisfy researchers', experts' and funding agencies' requirements. As a result, a comprehensive list of requirements was gathered.

Using a phased approach to development, the following releases have been scheduled:

  • Release 1.0 will allow students and researchers to capture and store CV information in a database and output the data in either print or electronic format.
  • Release 2.0 will include tools for the member agencies to extract the CV data of those who are applying for funding at those agencies. This release is scheduled for September 2002.
Each member agency will be implementing the Common CV at its own pace. Check with the agency in question's web site to find out when it will be accepting the Common CV for their funding programs.

Be sure to visit the Canadian Common CV web site http://www.commoncv.net/ to find out more about the project, to be included in user testing or to send your comments, suggestions, and questions.
