Grants and Awards
Alberta Innovates - Health Solutions / Foundation Fighting Blindness - Canada
Studentships or Fellowships in Vision Research
In partnership with the Foundation Fighting Blindness - Canada (FFB), we are providing support to studentships and fellowships in vision research. Building on the tradition of funding high quality trainees, this partnership will attract high quality students and fellows to Alberta to conduct research to find the causes, treatment and ultimately cures for retinitis pigmentosa, macular degeneration and related retinal diseases.
The partnership supports the strategic directions of both agencies in ensuring resources are directed to timely research in an area of health that affects many Albertans and Canadians. Students and fellows with interests in research related to retinal biology and experimental ophthalmology are encouraged to apply in the following basic or translational fields of research:
- Retinal biology (especially photoreceptor)
- Cell biology
- Molecular biology
- Genetics
- Therapeutics
