Please note that effective January 9, 2002 AHFMR will no longer be accepting applications to the AHFMR Opportunity Fund. As previously scheduled, this program will close on June 30, 2002.

In 1997, the AHFMR created this program to address the burgeoning partnership opportunities for research funding being announced in Canada including CFI, ASRIP and CHSRF. Since that time, the Foundation has contributed approximately $13.5 million to the support of 29 proposals.

The Foundation will continue to make substantial contributions to the joint funding of many initiatives through its personnel support, major equipment and establishment grant programs.

Please note that the Foundation will continue to be a third party co-sponsor for successful applications to CHSRF. In order to be eligible for consideration for this support, applicants applying to CHSRF must seek written permission of AHFMR to list the Foundation as a third party co-sponsor in their letter of intent, and provide the Foundation with copies of all documentation submitted to CHSRF.

Effective August 2004, the project component of CHSRF Open Grants Program was transferred to CIHR. More information on this transfer is available on the CIHR web site at http://www.cihr-irsc.gc.ca/e/24797.html. AHFMR will continue to serve as a third party co-sponsor for this program. All requirements as outlined in the previous paragraph still apply with respect to seeking AHFMR support.
