LOUGHEED PRIZE FELLOWSHIP AWARD

The Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research (AHFMR) has developed an exciting new training opportunity for trainees who are interested in working as a post-doctoral fellow with AHFMR's 2007 Lougheed Prize winner, Dr. Michael Meaney. The competition is open to trainees who are preparing a fellowship.

Dr. Meaney, the first recipient of the Lougheed Prize is a leading figure in the field of child health research. He is Associate Director of the Douglas Institute Research Centre in Montreal and a professor in the departments of Psychiatry and Neurology & Neurosurgery at McGill University. His field of research is fetal and early childhood determinants for optimal health.

Interested candidates should review the AHFMR Fellowship guidelines and application form found below. Please note that only the trainee portion of the application should be submitted for this competition; the supervisor portion is not required. The term of support for this fellowship is a maximum of three years. The submission deadline for this special competition is Monday, November 17, 2008 @ 4:00 p.m. Applications will be accepted if sent by overnight courier on the deadline day.

An application submitted to the Lougheed Prize Fellowship competition does not count as one of the two opportunities trainees are permitted to apply to the AHFMR Fellowship program. Eligible applicants are still welcome to submit an application to the October 2008 AHFMR Fellowship competition.
