Peter Matthewman been a member of the Technology Commercialization Advisory Committee since September 2004.
Mr. Matthewman is a senior executive with a background in Life Sciences obtained in Asia/Pacific, Western Europe and North America while working with Rhone-Poulenc, American Cynamid and the Alberta Research Council. His experience includes commercial sales and marketing, technology acquisition and development, global licensing and joint ventures operations.
A science background in agriculture and chemistry and an MBA support Mr. Matthewman's professional experience. He earned his Master of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario in 1983, and his Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Dean's List 1975) and Bachelor of Science (1972) from the University of Manitoba.
Mr. Matthewman was the Vice President of the Alberta Research Council's Life Sciences Division from June 2000 to August 2004. He is currently the Vice President of Business Development of Performance Plants Inc. in Kingston Ontario. Performance Plants is the largest Canadian plant biotechnology company conducting innovative research and developing new technology. They are focused on developing technologies that will stabilize plant yield under regular and water deficient conditions to deliver consistent increases on average yields. In addition, the Company has other abiotic and yield-enhancement technologies under development.
