Dan Doll, MSc, MBA

Hotchkiss Brain Institute

Mr. Doll is focused on facilitating the development of biomedical innovations, from discovery research through to early stage commercialization. He is currently the Associate Director of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute, a University of Calgary research organization that is focused on translational research in the area of neurological and mental health. Prior to joining the Hotchkiss Brain Institute, Mr. Doll supported technology transfer and industrial relations at a large state university in the US and he worked with emerging technologies and start-up companies as a business consultant.

Dan Doll holds a BSc and MSc degrees in Neurosciences from the University of Calgary, and an MBA from Queen's University.

Darren Fast, PhD, MSc

Solalta Advisors

Dr. Fast is the President and founder of Solalta Advisors, which assists companies and institutions to commercialize their life science technologies effectively. Prior to Solalta Advisors, Darren was Chief Technology Officer at Lombard Life Sciences, the general partner of the Western Life Sciences Venture Fund LP, a Canadian-based Venture Capital fund, where he identified and evaluated more than 300 early stage technologies for investment. In addition to assessing and investing in technology, Darren was intimately involved in packaging companies for follow-on investment/exit, and in helping lead portfolio company development and commercialization activities. Prior to Lombard Life Sciences, Darren was Manager, Product Planning and Development at Viventia Biotech (formerly Novopharm Biotech) where he was responsible for the development of several human therapeutics projects.

Darren Fast led the project teams that moved these products from research into clinical trials. Darren has a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Alberta and a M.Sc. in chemistry from the University of Manitoba. Darren is located in Winnipeg Manitoba.

Beverley Sheridan, BSc, MSc

Technology NOW

Ms. Sheridan is an intellectual property management/licensing professional and coach with a broad base of experience in industry and academia including new product identification and assessment, IP protection strategy, commercialization strategy development, sales, marketing and international licensing.

Beverley Sheridan founded Technology NOW in 2000, after 13 years, 8 as President and CEO, with University Technologies International Inc. (University of Calgary), the first for profit, university-owned technology commercialization and intellectual property management company in Canada. Technology NOW offers a full spectrum of technology commercialization services including: Technology Transfer Consulting and Coaching, Assistance with Intellectual Property Management, Agreement Negotiation, Development and Writing of Funding Support and Grant Applications, Development of Technology Commercialization Strategies, Workshops and On-line Training. Technology NOW has provided services to government organizations, Canadian Universities and Networks, small business entities and individual inventors.

Beverley holds an MSc from the University of New Brunswick, a BSc from Trent University and a Certificate of Management Development from the University of Calgary.
