ForeFront Block Grants

$105,000 of ForeFront funding has been awarded to both TEC Edmonton and UTI to support early stage, pre-commercial activity. The objective of the block grant is to facilitate and accelerate the application of the most promising technologies originating from medical/health research at the two universities.

Funds will be administered by the technology transfer offices and will be used to:

• Assess and strengthen the technical aspects of scientifically sound projects
• Verify uniqueness
• Explore the potential for commercialization

Expected outcomes:

• High levels of satisfaction of block grant funding recipient and the broader stakeholder community;
• More and higher quality ForeFront Phase 1, 2, and 3 applications submitted by block grant Recipients; and
• Evidence that AHFMR funds were used to leverage additional investment from other appropriate sources

ForeFront supports career development, assists innovators, and helps build a successful medical/health industry in Alberta through mentorship, coaching, and funding. The ForeFront Block Grant further demonstrates AHFMR’s commitment to providing balanced support for the generation and application of knowledge that leads to improved health.
