What is HYRS?
We would like to thank the Alberta Cancer Foundation for sponsoring four additional HYRS students for the 2011 program: Two students at the University of Calgary, and two at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.
HYRS stands for Heritage Youth Researcher Summer program. Funded and administered by Alberta Innovates – Health Solutions, HYRS is an intensive six-week summer science program for high school students in Alberta. HYRS offers Alberta students who have completed grade 11 the opportunity to do hands-on scientific research in labs and research centres at three campuses: the University of Alberta in Edmonton, the University of Calgary, and the University of Lethbridge.
Are you a Grade 11 high school student in Alberta who loves science?
You need a minimum of 85% standing in each of math 20, biology 20, and one other grade 11 science to apply for HYRS.
Here’s what some of our 2011 students have said:
“The HYRS program has been the most educational and fun summer I’ve ever had. Thank you to everyone who made it so wonderful…”
“Best experience ever if you’re interested in sciences!”
“I learned so much that I never would have known if I didn’t come to HYRS.”
“My HYRS experience was more than I could have asked for. It was incredible.”
